A Story:
Once upon a bright, sunny morning a
man and his young son left their farm to
make a trip into town. The boy rode atop their
donkey as the father walked alongside.
Along the road they encountered a fellow from the nearby
village. “You should be ashamed of yourself!” the
fellow said, admonishing the boy. “You ride comfortably
while your poor, old father has to walk. You have no
respect!” The boy and his father first sheepishly exchanged
glances, then exchanged places.
As the two continued their journey, they chanced upon another
fellow. “You selfish old man!” he said. “You take the easy ride
while your poor son wears himself out trying to keep up. You
should at least let the boy ride also.” Not wishing to offend, the
old man helped his son climb aboard. The pair then continued
their journey.
Before long, they came upon a woman coming from the
opposite direction. She, too, found fault with their arrange-
ment. “I’ve never seen such cruelty! You two lazy louts
are too heavy for that poor donkey. It would be more
fitting for the two of you to be carrying the animal.”
Not wishing to fall from favor with the woman,
the man directed his son to bind the donkey’s
front hooves together, then back
hooves together.
Meanwhile,
the man himself cut a long, sturdy
pole from a nearby tree. The pair laid the
animal down, slid the pole through his bound
hooves, then lifted the pole to their shoulders-the
father on one end, the boy on the other, the donkey
hanging upside- down on the pole between them.
Carrying the donkey, the pair trudged along. As they
crossed the bridge that lead into town, the upside-down
donkey saw his reflection in the water below from an angle
that he had never before seen. The animal became frightened
and suddenly thrashed about violently, causing the pair to lose
their grips on the pole. Before they could grab him, the donkey
fell off the narrow bridge into the water below. Still bound, the
donkey was unable to swim. From the bridge, the father and son
helplessly watched as their donkey sank out of sight, into the
deep water below.
Moral: After a moment of silent reflection,
the father turned to the boy and spoke:
“Son, we learned a valuable lesson today.
We learned that when you try to satisfy
everyone you end up losing your ass.”

Your coffee cup tipped over…your book shelf fell…
Everyone in your household is screaming like crazy…never before…
The next 10 seconds, you realized your family is buried by the
fallen ceiling that’s supposed to keep your family safe and warm…
You lost your family and home…and country doesn’t have enough
resources to help your fellow country men, women and kids…
…I had been there, I had experienced the near-death situation of a
disastrous earth quake…and I’m glad all my family members
survived…with minimal damage on our house…

yourself in their catastrophe.
If you have a cellphone…you can help the victims in Haiti by

This is going to be a short post.
So…I was reading the new updated version of 4 hour work week by Time Ferris(highly recommended)…then out of curiosity, I google “tim ferris scam.”
I click on the first result I got.
You can read it here 5 Time management tricks I learned from years of hating Tim Ferriss
It’s a blog post written by a very successful female entrepreneur Penelope Trunk about how much Tim Ferris wasted her time and blah blah blah on her bitching Tim…
Ok…that’s not the point…
Guess how many link this single blog post got…according to just yahoo…549 backlinks. It could be a lot more because yahoo doesn’t show you(neither does google) all the backlinks.
In fact, this Tim-bitching blog post has 400+ comments since Jan 2009.
Why does this blog post get so many comments and backlinks?
A: It’s highly CONTROVERSIAL.
It’s an one sided blog post expressing the author’s opinions based on facts. It’s ethical and thoughts provoking.
So if you want to jumpstart your blog traffic and boost your pagerank. You can write a controversial blog post just like the one I showed you.
Bookmark it, tweet it, facebook it, digg it, send it to your list, post it in related forums and inform other bloggers.
The ultimate SEO is to write a lot of linkbait posts.
You can write about how much you LOVE Bin laden, or why people should stop marketing Mike Dillard’s products etc.

As you probably have already heard that google’s launched its own Goo.gl url shortener service.
But it’s not available for broad consumers to use, instead, it’s like an add-on feature for google’s other products like google toolbar and feeburner….
Why did google create such a service when there are tons of FREE url shorteners out there?…maybe our search giant just want a piece of pie and maybe potentially use it to support the new algorithm.
Here’s what google said about the goal of this service:
- Stability – ensuring that the service has very good uptime
- Security – protecting users from malware and phishing pages
- Speed – fast resolution of short URLs
…That’s all cool and nice right?…
But I don’t think so…I believe whenever google makes a move there’s always a hidden reason behind that…like google side wiki… Everyone thinks that our google’s trying to “own” or “re-frame” other websites by literally putting tags on them.
Not just me who thinks that google’s got something they don’t want us to know. Read to what Andy Beal has to share…about the new google tool.
- What if Google starts using this click-thru data as part of its algorithm?
- How does this effect SEO?
- What if Google insists that sites with long URLs slow down the web and insists you convert to Goo.gl? Not that far fetched!
- What if it was added to the Google Toolbar because PageRank is going away–and Google needs a new reason to get you all downloading the toolbar?
- What if Google starts adding AdSense to the destination URLs
But in the end I think yes I will try out this new service for sure…but with precautions in case google does something funky…
