How To Write Blog Posts That Attract 500+ Backlinks

by Eric Su on December 22, 2009

This is going to be a short post.

So…I was reading the new updated version of 4 hour work week by Time Ferris(highly recommended)…then out of curiosity, I google “tim ferris scam.”

I click on the first result I got.

You can read it here 5 Time management tricks I learned from years of hating Tim Ferriss

It’s a blog post written by a very successful female entrepreneur Penelope Trunk about how much Tim Ferris wasted her time and blah blah blah on her bitching Tim…

Ok…that’s not the point…

Guess how many link this single blog post got…according to just yahoo…549 backlinks. It could be a lot more because yahoo doesn’t show you(neither does google) all the backlinks.

In fact, this Tim-bitching blog post has 400+ comments since Jan 2009.

Why does this blog post get so many comments and backlinks?

A: It’s highly CONTROVERSIAL.

It’s an one sided blog post expressing the author’s opinions based on facts. It’s ethical and thoughts provoking.

So if you want to jumpstart your blog traffic and boost your pagerank. You can write a controversial blog post just like the one I showed you.

Bookmark it, tweet it, facebook it, digg it, send it to your list, post it in related forums and inform other bloggers.

The ultimate SEO is to write a lot of linkbait posts.

You can write about how much you LOVE Bin laden, or why people should stop marketing Mike Dillard’s products etc.

Hi Eric,

I just read the post your refer to last night. Then tonight I find your post about that post. Very funny! She definitely got links, but the negativity was a bit much for me. Point well taken though.

All the best,

Alan
